Football Betting Forum Links – The Best College Football Sites and Forums on the Internet

Football Betting Forum Links

Football is just one of those sports that everyone loves. It doesn’t matter where you are from, what you do as a profession, how old you are or what sex you are. In fact, I’ve met some women that were more hardcore fans of football than men have been! Well college football is no different. Some people even switch over from college to pro when one is over and the next begins. I personally haven’t ever been too hardcore about college football but that doesn’t mean I don’t check out the teams or watch out for cool sites online that involve football! I’m more of a pro football girl myself! Recently, however, I was checking out some college football sites just to see what was going on and I found a few really sweet sites that I think everyone should check out. So, if your looking for something a little different or a little more unique, read below:

College Sports Info – Listing of NCAA message board forums, fan sites, official school sites and various media resources including videos, audios, and interviews.

Connect-Dots – The home of the best college football sites on the net.

Top Football Sites – The 100 most popular football links on the web. Top sites include links to NFL, college, high school, and fantasy football sites. Football Betting Forum Links

Football Forum – NFL & College fan discussion site. Topics include news, game reviews and trade rumors.

Against The Line – Against The Line provides college football news and commentary as well as a thorough analysis of each week’s college football bets and propositions.

College Football Resources – College Football Forum. Discuss any and all relevant college football issues—create your own threads or reply to others

Some of those are forums and some of these are just plain old web sites. Personally I like forums a lot better because you can sign up and talk shop with everyone. Most of the forums include extras like newsletters, news, polls, links to sport betting sites aka sport books and much more. Websites are cool too but a lot of the time you just have to sit back and read but not really participate. Of course you can also go to the ever popular NCAA Football website and the likes, but as said above you can’t really participate in these sites! You can also find more forums and websites for college football by going to your favorite search engine and searching for relative words. Have fun! Football Betting Forum Links

The Best Horse Racing Spot Play for Top Profits Handicapping Horse Races

Horse Racing on Lake of the Isles, Minneapolis, 1929
Horse Racing

I live two blocks from this lake; winter excitement there is sorely lacking these days.

If you want an easy winner in a horse race there is one situation that produces proven winners every day.  It is also one of the quickest spot plays to find because it stands out.  All you have to do is scan a race and these winners will jump off the page at you, and yet, they are still going off at good prices, in fact, some are even long shots.  If you think these claims are a lot of hot air, I’ll prove it to you with actual examples that I recently cashed tickets on and you can judge for yourself whether this is just another come on.

On Saturday, August 28th, 2010 at Del Mar Race Track, I cashed two good winning tickets on horses that it took seconds to spot.  One of those winners paid .60 and the other paid .20.  For a base bet of I collected .80.  I admit they don’t win all the time, but you’d be surprised at how often these spot plays do win.  I have written countless articles about these spotplays and yet, the crowd still lets them go off at good prices.

I am talking about the spot play that I call, “The Only One.”  The only one simply means that the horse is the only one in the race who has won at both the distance and the race track.  It is the only one in the race who has demonstrated the ability to do what is being asked of it.  It is so easy and quick to find these great winners.  Just scan the race and look at the figures for races at the track and distance.  If you find a horse with a win in each one, and it is the only horse in the race who gets a check mark in each of those two categories, it is a play.

In the past I have had huge winners this way and have also documented them in other articles.  So which horses am I talking about at Del Mar?  In the 6th race, “Where’s the Remote,” was the only horse with a win at Del Mar and a win at the distance.  In fact, the gray-roan gelding had just won over that very course on the turf.  He was at 5-2 in the morning line, but was bet down to 6-5 and paid, .20.  More than doubling my money on such a horse was nice, but the best was yet to come.

In the feature race of the day, the Grade l Pacific Classic Stakes, only one horse had won at the distance and at Del Mar.  Other horses had won at Del Mar and other horses had won at the distance, but not both.  Not only was there an Only One in this race, but the horse had also won the same race last year!  “Surely this horse had to be the favorite,” you’re saying to yourself.

“Richard’s Kid,” the horse I am writing about, was the Only One and he went off at 9-2 and paid .60.  I couldn’t believe that the crowd let him go off at such generous odds, but easy winners and quick picks are what this amazing spot play is all about.  I have been handicapping for decades and make a living teaching other people how to handicap.  When I tell them about such spot plays and then they go looking for them, they are always amazed at how easy it is to pick winners and how much common sense is involved.  These horses are truly best bets and proven winners.

If you are truly a baseball cap aficionado, you may think that you have run out of shopping venues that they are old, tired, and stale and played out. Fortunately, that is far from the case. The truth of the matter is that the number and quality of baseball caps stores are a direct result of the simple economic concept of supply and demand. Because baseball caps are so incredibly popular, new and better baseball caps stores are springing up all the time. The trick is finding them. Because they are a specialty item that is really a niche in and of itself, many of these stores tend to be small, independently operated, and often located out of the way in lower rent commercial areas.

If you like searching the old fashioned way, grab your nearest phone book. You can generally find baseball caps stores under the headings ‘retail clothing store,’ ‘athletic supplies,’ and ‘sporting goods -retail, ‘among other headings. If the listing is for a larger company, you may find ads that give you an idea of their inventory and perhaps even coupons. Smaller baseball cap retailers and wholesalers will generally be listed with simply the name of the store, the address and the phone number. If it is out of the way, and you have a particular product in mind, you may want to call ahead to avoid wasting time.

Another great tool for locating the baseball caps stores in your area is to go online and do a search engine search. This can be a great option if you are hoping to find more information about a particular store or product, as websites tend to be far more comprehensive that phone book listings. Many websites even list available inventory and pricing, which can help you find the baseball cap store that is best suited to your needs, wants, and budget.

If you are looking for a large number of baseball caps, you may want to go the wholesale route rather than pay retail pricing. Many baseball caps stores and sporting good stores are very sensitive the needs of customers who need products for entire teams our even leagues, as most sports (baseball included) are team sports. Buying your baseball caps in bulk for a wholesale price can really save you a lot of money, and this tends to be especially true if you place large orders well in advance. It is a courtesy to the establishment you are frequenting, and they will often repay your courtesy by discounting large bulk orders that are placed in advance.

Finally, one of the best, most fun and most leisurely ways of finding the best baseball caps stores is to take a stroll around your local mall or other large shopping venue. Most major malls have at least one store that specializes in baseball caps or sporting goods. Additionally, many of the tee shirt outlet stores that have cropped up over the last decade or so also deal in baseball caps. Generally, caps found in these locations are plain and can easily be immediately customized for an additional cost.

Baseball caps are as American as the sport of baseball itself, and they have a rich and storied history that continues to shape the worlds of sports, fashion and Americana. Blank fitted baseball caps can serve a great purpose for many sports teams, especially city leagues, because they are easily customizable and because they are fitted, they stay in place, minimizing the need to adjust. They are generally available in either straight from the shelf or custom ordered fitted sizes.

When they were first introduced, the majority of blank fitted baseball caps were made to be easily customized, and in three standard sizes; small, medium and large. Players simply chose the size that most closely fit their own head. As they began to evolve, these hats often began to incorporate elastic bands around the circumference, in order to allow for a more snug fit. Later on, many baseball cap production companies began to capitalize on customized fitted caps. These are purchased via special order, and are made to perfectly fit the head of the wearer.

The widespread implementation of blank fitted baseball caps among baseball teams allowed those paying the bills to save money and time, because they did not have to special order hats – they could simply place large bulk orders in the three standard sizes, and then have them either customized with team logo’s or other graphics professional. Alternatively, they could simply buy decals and do the job themselves. Of course, those in the major and minor baseball leagues generally utilize custom fitted, professionally designed caps rather than blank fitted caps as this allows for a higher quality, and overall more uniform looking uniforms. However, as major and minor league baseball players make up a fairly small percentage of those who wear baseball caps, it is no surprise that blank fitted baseball caps are common.

Blank fitted baseball caps tend to be used for other purposes other than sports. Often, they are used for promotions due to their low cost and easy ability to be easily customized. They can often be found in promotional gift bags, are often handed out by radio stations, realtors, or virtually any other professional individual or company who happens to be trying to get their name out there.

In addition to being utilized by those who actually play the game, blank fitted baseball caps have really become a fashion accessory in their own right, partially because they fit like a glove. They are available in every color imaginable, are easy to customize with printing or custom sewn logos and other pictures and made from many materials. Additionally, a lot of novelty shops sell many different types of these hats, and often offer immediate customization with any number of slogans, phrases, icons or designs. They are popular among athletes and the non athletic alike, regardless of age or gender. Most people own at least one blank fitted baseball cap; or at the least a fitted baseball cap that was blank at one time. Regardless of your needs, these baseball caps have universal appeal.

The Best Way to Bet on Horse Races – Three Horse Racing Tips

The line up before the Palio de Siena, the most famous Palio horse race in Italy.
Horse Racing

The line up before the Palio de Siena, the most famous Palio horse race in Italy.

Would you like to bet on horse races, but you’re not sure about how to do it?  Maybe you’ve been to the race track once or twice and had fun, but didn’t know what you were doing, or maybe you’ve been more than a few times, but still want to learn more about how to bet on horses.  Reading a racing form or past performances and then wagering can be confusing, especially if you’re picking winners.  These tips are mostly for North American tracks, but some of the advice is good no matter where you go to the races.

1. The first tip is also a bit of a caution and disclaimer.  It is fun to bet on horses and win money, but it is also very risky.  Unless you’re a great handicapper, have a real good horse racing system,  or have some very good inside information, a lot of it is luck.  Therefore, never risk more than you can afford to lose.  Because it can become an emotionally charged experience, I advise that you only take as much money into the track or OTB as you can afford to lose.  Leave the rest of your money at home.

2. The second tip is about betting.  This is where you figure out which type of wager to make.  There are many kinds of wagers that you can make.  Obviously, if you bet on a horse to win, it has to win the race in order for you to collect.  If you bet on a horse to place, it has to finish first or second and you get whatever it pays to place.  Horses usually pay less to place than to win because they have a better chance of placing.  The third straight bet, as these wagers are called, is a show bet.  It means if your horse manages to come in first, second, or third, you get whatever it pays to show and be prepared because it is usually less than the win or place payoff.

If you only want the thrill of cashing tickets and cheering on a horse and you lack confidence, there is nothing wrong with betting to show or place.  If you want a chance at each one of those bets, you can bet the horse “across the board.”  Let’s say you have chosen a horse, we’ll say the 2 in the third race, to bet on and you want to collect no matter whether it wins, places, or shows.  For six dollars you can bet a across the board bet.  You simply walk up to the teller and say, “Two dollars across the board on the two in the third race.”  You might also have to specify the track if there is simulcasting going on and people are betting on more than one track.

I don’t recommend more complicated bets such as exactas or daily doubles because they are harder to win.

3. The third horse racing tip is how to choose a good horse to bet on.  The most likely winner is usually the horse with the most money bet on it.  They are called the favorite and on the average win about a third of the time.  They place about half the time and show almost three quarters of the time.  Therefore, betting the favorite across the board results in some kind of payoff in almost three out of four races, that’s the good news.  The bad news is that if you keep betting the favorite, you’ll wind up cashing a lot of tickets, but losing money.

If you don’t know how to handicap and don’t have a good horse racing system, I recommend you get a racing form or local paper that has a sports writer who handicaps the races, and read the comments about the horses made by the experts.  This will do two things.  It will tell you which horses are most likely to win and it will also start to teach you how handicappers choose winners.  Their comments will quickly educate you about class, speed, and jockeys.  If you go with their second or third choice you will have a lot of winners and also get some pretty good prices at times.

Those three tips will get you started and you will have an enjoyable day at the track.  Going to the horse races and betting on horses should be fun as long as you use common sense and follow those guidelines.

Horse Racing Results Belmont Park

No matter what sort of horse racing fan you are, you probably have a list of horse races that you consider to be the best out there. We agree with that and our favorite top three horse races in the United States have to be the Belmont State, Preakness, and the Kentucky Derby. We wait weeks and months for these races and follow betting odds, jockey careers, and can’t wait for the visit to the track or the television show to entice us even more.

Why did we pick these three when there are so many? Because it is our list, not yours and we want to talk about them, where they are, the smell of the track, and the history behind these three events. First off, these three events make up the Triple Crown series and are run in this order:

o Kentucky Derby – Held the first Saturday in May

o Preakness – Run two weeks later

o Belmont Stakes – Runs three weeks later

Why do we enjoy the Triple Crown so much when we could, as horse wagers, make more money on perhaps other races? Because they’re cool, celebrities attend them-heck, even Queen Elizabeth II came to the Kentucky Derby-those are races we like to talk about!

First, what’s up with the Kentucky Derby? Well, beyond those taste bud tempting Mint Juleps we all sip or perhaps consume too many of, this Grade One race is for our favorite three year-old thoroughbreds and held each year in Louisville, Kentucky after the fun and exciting two week event of the Derby Festival. This event-filled race is one and a quarter miles at the spectacular Churchill Downs and has the old nickname, “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports!” If you haven’t heard that term, what about “The Run For The Roses?” Sure, we know you’ve heard one of those terms. The thoroughbreds that run this race aim to beat the 1973 record of 1:59 2/5 set by Secretariat in 1973. Or, maybe as fans, they want to see which jockey will beat out the most winning jockeys-Eddie Arcaro and Bill Hartack-both won this race six times. Anyway, we love this race and dream of sitting with the wealthy ladies with hats, have a few Mint Julep’s, and maybe sop up some great Burgoo Stew-a heck of a time. Horse Racing Results Belmont Park

We also love the Preakness-even the name is cool. The last three years have brought us horse names like Big Brown, Curlin, and Bernardini; all of these super horses won this race. Also a Grade One race for three-year old thoroughbreds held in Baltimore, Maryland at the Pimlico Race Course, this race has been called “The Run for the Black-Eyed Susans.” We cheer here watching those horses run this 1-3/16 mile race and can’t wait for that old black-eyed Susan to be hung around the winner’s neck. Mostly, we like betting on this race and being forced to sing Maryland, My Maryland, even if we’re not from there.

The Belmont Stakes, another amazing horse racing betting opportunity, oops, we mean horse race, is also a Grade One race and is held at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York and is the final leg of the Triple Crown-not to be confused with Crown Royal. This 1.5-mile race is also for those thoroughbreds we crave watching and what about all those Carnations? Well, they do call this race “The Run For The Carnations,” so maybe those horses do like those flowers draped all over them, probably much more than the thorny roses at the Kentucky Derby. Here we all get to sing the theme from “New York, New York,” even if we don’t know the words. Most of us remember that Billy Shoemaker won this race five times and still love him, even if Eddie Arcaro has won it six times. We like it even more that Secretariat’s time of 2:24 has never been beat as of yet, but there’s always 2009.

Well, those are our favorite three and even if we can’t get seats (we can’t afford them), we sing, we laugh, eat, and all bet who will win, what will be the best time, and if we are holding the winning ticket. Check them all out next time-especially if you know the words to the traditional songs of each. Horse Racing Results Belmont Park

Best Hockey Skates In The Sport

Best Hockey Skates?

Finding the best hockey skates is a hard thing to do.  It is.  That is why I am writing this article regarding my experience in hockey equipment.  I’ve had great experience with Bauer hockey skates and even though they were the cheaper version of hockey skates, they were the absolute best for my money.  CCM is also a good brand, but I had more issues with them than I did with Bauer which tends me to rank Bauer above them.  CCM Vector skates look like an improvement over the old TACKs brand, but I can’t vouch for them as I’ve never owned a pair of those skates before.  I find that Bauer’s brand of skate fit much better and I had better control of movement in them.

Nike Bauer is the brand that I’ve talked about in the first paragraph, even though I’ve owned CCM TACKs for the majority of my hockey playing life.  It’s really just a matter of convenience.  I didn’t really care for them in the beginning, but I got used to the feel of their skate boot.  Did I like them after that?  Not really, it’s just that I had to adjust my playing while wearing this particular pair of hockey skates.  I know that not every player will have this problem.  It’s up to you to decide weather or not you wish to try all pairs of skates or not.  I’d rather not as it’s expensive.

Another company that has gotten into the hockey equipment game is Reebok.  RBK is the short version of the name in which they produce their line of sports products.  Have I ever used their equipment while playing hockey?  No I haven’t, but I can tell you that this brand is sponsored by the NHL.  That’s right, Reebok is the official hockey equipment provider of the NHL.  So they have to have some degree of comfort in the hockey gear area.  Do I think Reebok Hockey Skates are good?  I don’t know.  They might be, but I haven’t had a chance to play a game in them.

Choosing skates can be tough.  You need to know what type of bearings come in the skates.  You should also check out the wheels.  Are they indoor wheels or outdoor wheels?  If your playing outdoor hockey or street hockey, then you want a harder wheel.  Indoor hockey players need softer wheels.  Is the frame plastic or metal?  I always go for aluminum chasis in my hockey skates as I like stiffness and control.

Well, you won’t find any good sports equipment that works for you without trying it on and playing a game in it.  There are many brands to choose from.  Nike Bauer, CCM, and Reebok are some companies, but that’s just to name a few.  If you want to find out who has the best, do your own research.  I personally think that Bauer has the best hockey skates.

5 Best Baseball Apps For IPad, IPhone and IPod Gaming

It’s only natural that Baseball, that much-loved all-American pastime, would make its way into the App Store. But even the most fanatical cubs fan would have a hard time sorting through the thousands of Baseball apps. So we did it for you! Here are the 5 Best Baseball Apps for your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Play Ball!

As a fan of the great American pastime and an Apple mobile device owner, you know that baseball is an intricate game played by some of the best athletes in the world. You also know just how awesomely capable your IPhone or IPad can be when it comes to using apps. The next time that you are searching for that something extra to add to your baseball experience, consider the following 5 apps that can be found in the app store. They will really open your eyes to the capabilities that your mobile device can offer.

MLB.com At-Bat 2010: This is the widely known, highly recommended baseball app that will allow you to follow the pitch-by-pitch action for any game that is being played for that day. Just want to get some quick scores, this app can also provide those to you as well, as the homepage provides a quick rundown of all the day’s action. Looking to find general stats or who is leading the league in RBI? You guessed it – this baseball app can provide all of those things to you in a nice little package. The only drawback to the MLB.com At-Bat 2010 app is that it can be a little pricey at .99, but the sheer amount of information that can be garnered from this particular app makes it far and away the best baseball app you will find in the app store.

iScore: Come on, admit it. One of your most favorite reasons to go to a baseball game is to fill in the box score in the program that you buy. You secretly enjoy when there’s a 6-4-3 double play because that means you get to write numbers and draw circles in two squares concurrently. Now, you can take the ability to score a game home with you, as iScore is an app that allows you to keep official score of the game at home while you watch it on TV or listen to it on the radio. Now, the IPad version will probably be the better option for users who have both the IPhone and the IPad because the IPad’s bigger screen will allow you to see the entire card. Whatever device you choose the app for, you are getting a fun and exciting app that you can use over and over again.

MLB World Series 2010: This is the only playable baseball app that offers you every Major League Ballpark and full team rosters. The app offers two modes: World Series and Regular Series. You also have the option to play defense yourself or have the computer play defense for you. The pitcher/batter interface is unlike any other app that is offered for your Apple mobile device. Even though the .99 price tag could possibly turn some people off, don’t let the little bit of extra money deter you from buying this great baseball simulation app.

Fantasy Baseball Cheatsheet ’10: Fantasy baseball can provide some of the most enjoyable moments of the entire baseball season.
