If you are a dedicated baseball player like I am with the thirst for power hitting, you know how important a good set of power hitting drills are. The sweet feeling of entering the ball park having your teammates proud and thankful to be on your team, to step up to the plate and have the other team’s coach tell the fielders to move way back…it feels great.

However, before I found the right set of power hitting drills to incorporate into my baseball training, I didn’t exist in the world of batting, let alone power hitting – I sucked!

It didn’t matter what power hitting drills I did..or ate. My family couldn’t afford a weight system, batting gloves don’t help – just a waste of money, batting tees kinda helped my level swing – useless against non-stationary baseballs, I even tried eating a plate of spaghetti before every game – a mom tip. I would either end up flailing around at the plate like I had spaghetti arms (no pun intended), or I would get a stomach ache.

I was sick of everybody’s advice and almost quit – there was a nice summer reading program at the library I could volunteer at for my community service hours for school.

Believe it or not, it was physics class that gave me a new practice drill – we had a question involving baseball distance and batting speed. Obviously, went home and looked for ways to improve my bat speed. WARNING: CLICHE MOMENT. It seemed too good to be true -PowerHittingDrills.com – a site devoted to baseball power hitting drills by university coaches and scientists (don’t let this discourage you, it’s about baseball, so it’s written for baseball players).

Given that it’s tested material, and the fact I was fed up with dumb redneck batting tips and willing to try anything, Given that these baseball power hitting drills are tested power hitting drills, and the fact I was fed up with dumb redneck batting tips and willing to try anything, I went for it. Going back to the beginning of this little blurb, this was the best investment ever – better than my ps3.

By just adjusting my grip I lost spaghetti arm and could make solid contact with the ball, so I was excited about learning the real power hitting drills.

Within weeks (or within a few season games for another perspective) I had added several power hitting drills and tips to my arsenal, power hitting baseballs to the f

A baseball uniform is worn in order to distinguish the wearers’ role in the sport. Most uniforms have a name and number located usually on the back to help identify the player. Shoes, shirts, socks, caps, pants and gloves are all part of the baseball uniform.

But how did the baseball uniform come to be?

Baseball uniforms were first introduced by the New York Knickerbockers in the year 1849. Their pants were made of wool; they wore white flannel shirts and straw hats. Wearing a uniform soon took root and by 1900 all Major League Baseball teams were wearing them.

Before that time, those wearing a uniform also wore stockings which covered a player from foot to knee. Different colors and styles were used to show the differences between team members. By the end of the century each team would wear one of two different uniforms to differentiate between the home team and road team. It became popular to wear white at home and either black, dark blue or gray on the road.

From this time forward, the uniform began to evolve. Teams began making their uniforms even more unique adding purple lines or changing their colors entirely. Some started pin striping, which over the course of several years got bigger so that fans in the stadium could actually see the difference. Some used to say that pinstripes were added to the New York Yankees uniform to make baseball legend Babe Ruth appear slimmer, but since the team had been wearing the same pinstripes several years before he joined them, the legend was a myth.

The first numbers added to uniforms were in 1916 by the Cleveland Indians. They had them placed on their left sleeve and it wasn’t until 1929 that the numbers made their way to the back of the uniform. All major league baseball teams had numbers by the year 1932. It wasn’t until 1952 that the Brooklyn Dodgers were the first to add numbers to the front.

From the very beginning, logos were used to identify teams. Often times it was an Old English letter worn on the chest. Soon, picture logos began to be a popular site of team marketing. In the 1930′s, almost every team had its own logo or team nickname on their home shirts.

Today many uniforms sport both new ideas of the baseball uniform coupled with the old traditional style. Baseball and its uniforms are a huge part of American history and the traditional style a fantastic part of the baseball heritage.

Ways To Begin Collecting Baseball Memorabilia Such As Ken Griffey Jr Cleats

Baseball Player
Baseball

Again, the trucker hat looks great. The baseball shirt is delightful, but the bat leaves something to be desired. It just looks overly plastic, unfortunately.

Throughout the past thirty five years, buying, collecting, and selling sports memorabilia has become a lucrative hobby. Items like baseball cards, home run balls, and autographed equipment are all extremely collectible and sought after. Specific memorabilia, such as Ken Griffey Jr shoes are extremely valuable but may take a little more effort when it comes to tracking them down.

Sports stores are great places to find baseball memorabilia. They even sometimes carry signed equipment, such as baseball cleats, and other items as well. Check your local directory for shops that are exclusive to baseball and try to establish a relationship with the owner, as he’ll be able to contact you if items like Ken Griffey Jr’s shoes come into his store.

If there is a baseball convention taking place near your city, be sure that you take full advantage of it. They are often very large and filed with both knowledgeable sellers and baseball players themselves. The sports exhibitions are great places for any collector to purchase items and learn about others.

Because Ken Griffey Jr footwear are very specific objects, it might be hard to buy them at stores and conventions. Many baseball hobbyists find that buying these items is often more simple at estate sales and over the internet. At these sales and auctions you are going to come across valuable memorabilia, especially if you are sure ahead of time that the event is sports related.

By purchasing the baseball cleats and shoes over the internet, you’ll have even more success. Typing “Ken Griffey Jr cleats” into a reputable search engine will allow to find a number of different sellers. You could also participate in online auctions in order to find and purchase what you are looking for.

As efficient as all of the above mentioned options are, when trying to purchase any baseball collectibles, going right to the source may prove more successful. Writing to Ken Griffey Jr and asking for signed objects is a good idea. Just remember that he is extremely busy and try not to get upset if, after you ask him, the objects don’t come immediately or even at all. You could even keep track of Mr. Griffey so that, when he visits your city, you can appeal to him personally to sign a pair of his shoes.

As a general rule of thumb, never purchase anything, whether it be from a shop or auction, until you have determined its price and worth. Most baseball memorabilia shops price their items a little high but should still be relevant to the object’s worth. To make sure you don’t get a bad deal or a worthless object, always consult pricing books and third party appraisals. It’s also a good idea to only buy collectibles that come with identifying certificates or papers.

Preserving your collection should be just as important as adding to it. Keep the Griffey Jr cleats and shoes safe by encasing them in bags or cases. If you have identifying items that relate to the shoes, such as a picture of Ken Griffey wearing them or certification of authentications, make sure to store them together.

There is no sport in American history that is more exciting than baseball. This is illustrated by the millions of people who huddle around television sets when something like the World Series competition is being played. Fans will don special colored costumes, paint their faces, hold up signs and, in general, display their enthusiasm for the game. The winners are welcomed back to their hometown with parades and celebration parties.

Although there are no official records, it is believed that the game originated before 1861 with an English game called ’rounders’ which was played on sand lots. This game is still popular in the UK and Ireland schools and consists of hitting a ball with a bat and running around four bases. The game is mentioned, and called ‘baseball’, in a book written in 1745.

Other names for baseball were ‘townball’ or ‘base’, finally settling on the name baseball. It was not until 1845 that a man named Alexander Cartwright composed a set of playing rules and introduced the idea of scoring and record-keeping. It was in 1846 that the first recorded contest took place and in 1871 that the first professional league was established.

Although many different American cities established a professional team, the game did not become a popular sport until the 1920′s when Babe Ruth became a national hero with his well publicized home runs. He was playing for the New York Yankees at the time and led them to victory and a number of World Series titles.

The game also contributed to the acceptance of African-Americans as players in popular sports. This occurred in 1947 when Jackie Robinson was brought into the major leagues. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers and became well known for his athletic ability. Prior to his acceptance into the league all African-Americans were restricted to playing in a Negro League.

It was in the 1950s that the Western United States started wooing teams from the East. At this time expansion teams were formed with players available from other teams. Since the beginning of major league baseball there has been a National League and an American League.

Previous to its elimination in 2008 the sport had been included in the Olympic Games. The United States won the gold in this event in 2000. This game has spread around the world and, in 2006 an American team took part in the first annual World Baseball Classic, held in the United States. Baseball history in America has come a long way from its humble beginning as a ’rounders’ game on a sand lot.
